Has anyone seen this fim?
If not then you must, it's the best film I have watched for a long time.
John Malkovitch, Ray Winston are the main stars.
It is a continuation of the film "The talented Mr Ripley" that starred Matt Damon (Bourne Identity).
Here is a summary: -
Ripley is older now, and more urbane. His taste for the finer things of life, his ruthlessness, and his ability to con have made him a rich man. An associate, Reeves, seeks Ripley's help in dealing with problems in Berlin. Reeves is being squeezed by the Russian mafia on one side and the Ukranian mafia on the other. A murder needs to be done. An outsider is needed. Ripley believes that it would be more elegant to have the murder committed by a complete innocent. Jonathan Trevanny is such an innocent who works as a picture framer and lives with his wife Sarah and his son in the Italian village near Ripley's home. Jonathan is also terminally ill and when he is insulted by Trevanny at a party, Ripley sees an advantage. He cons Jonathan into becoming the hitman. And so Jonathan is drawn into Ripley's game.

One of those films that I didn;t realise I had enjoyed until it was over. Pretty good stuff, if not a little slow in places.
You're right there. I said to Mrs KS2 "what a brilliant film" as the credits rolled up the screen.
I recorded it onto DVD the next time it was screened, such a good film it would have been a shame to have missed recording it.
Agreed.
Ripleys game is a great film.
Deliberately very different in colour and tone to the earlier film.
This one shows Ripley much older now, and is set in present day Italy. Shot in the winter too, lending the film a more muted tone.
Its not the glossy travelogue that the first film was.
Personally, I prefer it because it does'nt have Jude Law in it ( an actor who seems overrated in the extreme to me ).
