I have a ICN 510 model bought for my 50th birthday.

I was planning on taking it to Portugal on holiday and have just been finding out about maps for the area on their web site.

From what I can gather, it seems I have to buy a CD of ALL the countries in europe at a price of £150!

Not only that but I will also have to buy an extra memory card to install it onto, at another £50.

Unless someone can suggest an alternative, I shall leave it behind and just buy an ordinary road map!

I bought an iCN610 last weekend (bargain price!) and I'm sure the CD's in the pack had european maps on.

I'll have a look as soon as I get the chance, and check what maps I have.

There is also an assumption that you can use the maps from a 610 package on a 510......

Also, make sure you load the speed camera database onto your NAVMAN.... it works very, very well.

Yep: If you buy the 510 with just UK maps - then the easiest thing to do is buy Pan-european maps. I believe, though, you *can* buy single countries at about £80 - makes sense to buy Europe.

Can I suggest that you *do* buy the European maps and an SD card big enough to carry around, say, Portugal and Spain.

The SatNav is soooo good when you are in an unfamiliar environment. I used my iCN630 extensively in Spain last year and it was *such* a godsend. I spent some time before the holiday pre-programming in as "Favourites" all the hotels and points of interest we were going to and it worked a charm - totally de-stressed the navigational aspects of the trip.

I'd recommend making the investment. After all - you don't need SatNav at home. Its at its most useful and beneficial when on holiday or on a business trip in an unfamiliar area...
