Strengthening floors

The vinyl collection is taking hold, what is the best way to support a floor?

Blimey you must have a fair few records! i've got a few thousand and it wouldn't occur to me to strengthen my floor!

Keep them at the edge of the room, then I would imagine you would be fine - otherwise get the builders in and the wallet out!

...preferably the sides of the room where the joist ends are?

Make an equilateral triangle of wood. Make a sort of base thing with three posts from which the three corners of the triangle are suspended by doubled bungees. Put a paving slab on the triangle and put the turntable on the paving slab. With one of these you can even play records in a caravan on a Rega. (I haven't tried with a non-BMW engine.)
