I am planning a trip there this year but need to know the best time (off season) and airline to fly with, can anyone help? I've got the Hotel sorted

Summer can be very hot, incredibly humid and you run a risk of hurricane action. Peak season was winter with low season from june through sept.
We used to regularly visit when stationed in Belize and to be honest it was pretty quiet in Summer, spring break can be fun if you like drunk American collage kids, though to fair the place really does rock when its on.
I like the place, we went there to party and were not dissapointed but it is not really that great as a family holiday, if you want a classier place head for Cozumel or Tulum down the coast or even further towards the border.

We went late october for a couple of weeks and the weather was generally good with the odd really heavy shower but only two or three short burst in the fortnight. Bloody warm in the evenings though.

Off season for Cancun would probably be the summer, in the same way that off season for Florida is the summer.

Spring break was this week, we were in Florida last weekend, it was full of students looking for a week of clubbing, boozing and getting rejected by members of the opposite sex.
