v8 to twincam swap
Discussion
Nothing to do with cars at all.
Thought it was a bit quiet on here, put it down to the students being on holiday.
v8thunder, one of our most prolific and verbose posters appears conspicuous by his absence, and his profile's disappeared.
Turns out he's now had an engine transplant and re-registered as Twincam16.
Someone been upsetting him?

He did post that he was giving it a brake after he got upset by a complete character assasination on a large number of threads.
to be fair agent006, v8thunder did open himself up to it offering large posts regarding his thoughts on the topic in virtually every thread going and he started numerous threads of his own asking questions which were highly emotive. I agree it's somewhat unfortunate that people on here went at his opinions with such vigor but then he would defend himself admirably with the end result been he antagonised some of the more awkward people. I think it has happened to everyone who offers an opinion at some point, it's always one or two members who start it as well (my opinion is right, yours is not). One either learns to ignore their comments or not to post/ask those sort of questions, I know I certainly am much more careful on what I post than I used to me (says the person who used to post on every single thread offering his opinion).
It is however testiment to his character that this thread exists, in the past when I've disappeared for a bit no-one has been bothered or possibly even noticed I haven't posted for while.
As for the name change, he always said he would with as and when he picked up a new car - his intention was to buy a MR2 Mrk1 if memory serves which is has a twin cam engine, hence TwinCamThunder instead of V8.

While you are on the right track regarding running into hostilty arms wide open, in 2 years of reading PH, I cannot think of another member (Mungo possibly excepted) who suffered such a vindictive character assassination, over a period of 4-5 weeks. Why the hell would anyone even bother logging on to read that bullshit???
Just because it doesn't happen on the forums doesn't mean people don't take it upon themselves to "prove you wrong". In the end I blocked his email address.

He seemed like a nice enough lad to me. Pretty eloquent - especially for his age. Sure he was a little opinionated and seemed to like to argue a bit, but most of us are like that. I remember when I was younger - the old hormones never really settled down until my mid-late twenties. It can get pretty lonely at his age. Give the lad a break, I say.
V8 - come home!

Seconded-he was still full of teenage angst (despite being 21) but he was fun to have around
and certain individuals should be ashamed of themselves for persecuting him.
So he's gone then? Shame as he had a lot to say for himself and his knowledge of new cars for one so young was excellent - certainly better than mine ... even if he did set himself up fairly regularly.
If he was persecuted and decided to leave because of it and I'm not on here all day like some so haven't really seen any of the bad stuff, then it's a shame.
This is a motoring discussion forum besides other things - I think there are some who forget that and see the chance to attack sensitive people just cos they can.
Cowards.
