Whats the catch with the aforementioned car insurance company?

They've quoted me half my renewal quote from my existing company, and that includes going from 3rd party F&T and SD&P cover to fully comp and business cover.

I know there is the one about only replacing a standard vehicle, but the only non-factory standard feature is my CD player which i assume is covered under their £750 audio/phone cover.

They have just delivered me a brilliant quote, more that £100 cheaper than the nearest opposition. Got the first quote online. They then called me this morning and beat it by another £20. Brilliant! And over £500 cheaper than the first quotes I was getting from Direct Line etc.

Try MoreThan - they were the next most competitive bunch.

None really - they are the internet arm of a decent, well established, solvent insurer - so certainly not cowboys.

All insurers have different target markets, and these guys seem to straddle part of the 'younger driver, high performance car' market. They quoted me £1000 for my Chimaera when I was 24 - which was around half of most competitors. It's a ratings structure thing - you'll probably find that they are more expensive with certain areas, job types, cars, ages etc which you and I might consider to be a more 'typical' target market.

When I had a (no fault) claim, they were excellent. They get a thumbs up from me.

Once of twice I have spoken to Indian people (one had the worst telephone manner I have ever experienced) but mainly I speak to UK people.

most of their telephone guys & gals are based in Cardiff I think. Certainly, when I dealt with them, I seemed to speak to a lot of boyos from the valleys. And bloody nice they were, too.

During normal business hours you'll talk to their Cardiff call centre.

They handled my windscreen claim on my previous car no problems.
They handled my collision with a 3rd party (me at fault) no problems. Organisation of repairs and hire car fairly easy.
Anything that means a change to your paper documentation will inccur an admin charge but they don't hide that.

no problem with them at all, spoke to UK people a few times. Was not aware of paperwork charges as have changed a few minor details without any charges.

They were very good dealing with our (non-fault) accident. They made a mistake calculating our new premium (old car written off) and made a huge error (£400) which we had lots of trouble with - and still isn't sorted)

I think they are fine for standard stuff, when something a little less ordinary comes along they can struggle - but its the same with anywhere I guess.

Hmmm… when I rang up for a quote. (3rd pty F&T on a 1900 quid Mondeo) they refused to quote me because I had a totting up ban from 5 years ago!

They covered my quattro for less than £400, which is roughly half the price of every other insurer I contacted. I anticipate it'll rise a bit at renewal time, but until then I'll remain very happy.

Thoroughly helpful chaps and chapesses on the phone, too.

They quoted me £200 less than anyone else. I also tried to pay by DDM on the website and didn't read the page properly and it took the whole lot out of my current account! One call to the customer call centre and it was sorted, they refunded the money and put it on my credit card.

The rate of interest on the monthly payment is extortionate though. £700 premium and £250 credit charge to pay monthly!!!! I paid by CC and did a 0% balance transfer.

Thanks for the replies, quite spookily they called me up just as i was looking for the phone number on their website to arrange monthly installments. Spoke to a rather affable chap, but being a salesman i guess he would be!

Its cost me £50quid extra to pay monthly as opposed to one lump sum, so thats not too bad, i guess, especially as i got a little knocked of the original quote for faking a sharp intake of breath

£750, 23yo, 2600cc, 15000miles/yr, Business Class 1, 2 accidents in 2004, 1 fault, 1 no fault. Am happy with that!

If the service in the next 12months is as good as it has been so far, I'll still be happy.

?? Weird - I have been quoted 8.5% total - taking a £330 premium to £359. Seems OK to me...

Apparently the quotes are good as they use the webternet instead of paying salaries for people to do it. After all you think how much time you spend doing the "what is your name, what car do you have" etc etc.

However they also use the web to process claims...
Which can be annoying. They used to offer a premium rate line if you wanted to speak to someone in person :grr:
