Digital watch repair

A long shot, but here goes:
I bought the coolest watch in the world ever and was/am chuffed to bits with it. Being from the early 1980's and digital I thought I would get the battery replaced to make sure it wasn't leaking and going all nasty inside.
After having the battery 'done' the watch goes blank and resets itself every now and again (although only when worn, not on my desk)! My thoughts are than an incorrect battery had been used - maybe not fitting properly, as pressure on the back plate sometimes causes the screen to go blank?
Does anyone know of somewhere who repairs DIGITAL watches I could send it to? Its a pretty tricky bit of kit so I imagine many normal watch repairers would run a mile.
Just for the curious - its a Seiko TV Watch, from 1983. The TV function is A-ok, just the time that goes funny (the simple bit Id have thought
).

Yes - but they weren't sold in the UK, so it would need to go to Seiko US or Japan. They will service it, but obviously I'd sooner not have to go to those lengths - especially as it *must* be something fairly simple as it was ok before the battery change (/simpleton mode)

Seriously, I'd send it to them anyway. It won't cost much to get it over there, just take lots and lots of macro pictures of it as proof of condition.

! In seriousness you might be right - I suppose fed-ex or such won't be too much - I just don't like trusting things to the postal service unless ALL other avenues have been exhausted.

A while ago a mate of mine used to take the pi$$ out of me for wearing a 'crappy' ten year old Rotary that I was given as a leaving present from my first job. It eventually died (in a pint of lager, incidentally) so I decided to replace it with the cheapest nastiest digital job I could find and on my t'internet travels I discoverd this place www.theretroworld.com
Ended up finding a Spoon one from the 80's I genuinely liked (metal, black on green digital with a back light) that was only sold in Japan and the US. Didn't work out that cheap, but I think it's going to become a thing with me and will probably be the first of many.
Mate still thinks it's crap though!

A few think I'm nuts as well - I got a very fine watch for my 21st - but there is something about these digital watches - especially the gadgety ones.
I quite fancy the pulsar calculator watch on the homepage of that site - very cool.
The question is, though - can you watch TV on your spoon watch and did James Bond ever wear it? ... as he reverts back to coolest watch ever status

Normally one battery connection is made by a spring loaded clip against the metal watch back. Penny to a pound putting the new battery had given the clip the hump or got some sh1t on it. Take the back off and clean the clip, bet it works properly again.
