Michael Howard wants police to have the confidence to "eyeball" yobs and "invade their personal body space".
The Tory leader vowed that under a Conservative government "police muscle power" would get behind the public's priorities of tackling thuggery.

And there should be no raeson for prosecuting them for using excessive force in making an arrest unless in very exceptional circumstances-what these Chavs need is a good beating.

I think that you need to be very careful here. I have spoken with youths from an ethnic background who have been stopped and questioned regularly.
I would question anyone who endorsed police brutality. Three years ago I witnessed a policeman beating up a man. It was a horrific attack and the memory of it will remain with me until my dying day. I made a statement to the police about what I saw, but they did not record my interview or transcribe what I said. I went to a solicitor and made a detailed statement. I actually went to the Crown Court to act as a witness against the policeman.
I would do the same again tomorrow as this thing happens all too often but people rarely speak out.

Absolutely. Many young criminals have had terrible upbringings and have been written off by society. And before you jump down my throat, I am not being a lentilist. It is just that some children have not been shown a good example or had an upbringing which has demonstrated love or care. Now, equally there are children who have had terrible upbringings but have managed to rise above their situatiuon and progress to a better life. The root cause of the problem needs to be addressed. Dishing out beatings is definitely not the way to go.

Ahhh but what had he done, if he was some lippy Chav then that might have been an appropriate punishment-I think we should have some faith in our police that they will come down hard on the right people.
The way I see a perfect policeman is one who stops half way through beating some Chav scum to say 'aftrenoon Ma'am' to some old lady walking by-firm but fair policing.

exactly it is tragic-but we have to deal with what they have become
Animals which become a danger to people are put down and many of the Chavs are lower than the animal Kingdom.
So what they need is strict boundaries-to know if they stray the law will come down on them with great vengeance.-Any other way is simply reproducing the situation which got us into the current mess.

He came out of his mum's house and was trying to stop the policeman man-handling his brother. Now if the policeman had just cuffed the brother and taken him into custody the incedent would have been avoided.
I wonder how you would feel if you were wrongly arrested. "Permission to beat you with in an inch of your life Sir? Don't mind if i break a few of your teeth do you while I am at it? Or scar you for life? Or smash your head in against my car, and ooh, while I'm at it, can I beat you senseless with this here Maglite?" I think you would think differently then.

I did not say that he attacked the policeman. He did not. He asked the policeman to stop man-handling his brother. When he grabbed the policeman's arm, firmly, but not aggressively, the assault then ensued.

The assault actually ensued when the guy who came out of the house grabbed the policeman's arm. If you approach a copper who's in the middle of making an arrest or trying to detain a suspect and grab them by the arm you're going to get a clobbering. And if you ask me, you deserve it. Policemen get a rough ride these days, sure, there are some bad ones out there but that's the case in all professions. They have to work with restrictive guidelines and are an easy target, both from chavs and the media alike.

Yes the police deserve our support they have been let down by politicians and their own Chief constables but we should remember that they are supposed to be the defenders of the line between civilised society and the scum.

They should be put to work on USEFUL community projects - and suffer heavy penalties for not showing up or being useless. They need strict military style supervision though IMO.

I got threatened by an older chav when I was working in A&E in Nottingham; thing is, I was just about to examine his rectum by sticking my finger up his jacksie. Would anyone in their right mind threaten someone who is about to violate the most precious of spaces?! Some people are just thick I suppose!!
And no..... tempting as it was and as much as I wanted to teach the scumbag a lesson I didn't stick three or four fingers up there. I think I might have set him off on one if I'd torn his anus.
