Graffiti on garage door....report a crime?

Between 7.30 last night and midday today, someone has sprayed graffiti all over my garage door. I'll hold off the comments and thoughts on these kind of people.
Is it worth report ing this to the police, or should I just take a photo of it, before removing.
Thoughts welcome.

Although I'm ignoring the graffiti on my garage door until I sell the house, cos I'd be livid if the little shites did it again.depending where you live your local council might have a grafiti hotline. There is a lot of grafiti round my way and the local council with clear it up for free you just need to let them know.
Alternativly paint over it quickly, the quicker it is removed the better in my book.
I wont tell you what ill do to anyone I catch but it wont involve the police just a lot of pain

If you don't report it, then it doesn't get added to the crime statistics, which the Government would rather not have to publish as it would reveal the true extent of how screwed-up this country is and further condemn its hopeless approach to crime. They would much rather you go away and not bother them with your troubles, a little like the banks would rather you did the same, when you only have £1 in your account. Because, short of actually admitting it, we cannot 'afford' to effectively police our nation, because the party in control are too busy financing their 'foreign obligations'...
You could always go for a different approach and get a decent local artist to cover the door in decent graffiti so that they either won't do it again or if they do it won't actually be that obvious. 
Or, the reverse psychology might work strangely and they might turn up with a brush and pot of Hammerite and give you a nice gloss finish.

Definately report it and photograph it. It may well be that nothing can be done, but not always. A colleague of mine investigated a serial graffiti "artist" yes I know, I can think of another term utilising the term artist. They (the vandals) are known by their "tag." i.e the distinct scrawl, symbol etc...
The code amongst such persons is that each tag is unique to the person who "tagged" the given wall/door etc...
My colleague got in contact with a recognised expert on graffiti art, who was able to give evidence linking multiple offences to the one offender. In turn this Officer has become something of an expert himself and has since prosecuted other like offences.
Also, reporting it helps build intelligence. If it does form part of a pattern, Community Officers or PCSOs if you have them should be able to conduct patrols in the area which may prevent repeat offences.
So definately report it. You may just get a crime number, there may be nothing else the Police can do, but I'll guarantee one thing, if you don't the chances of anything being done really are nil.

Rather they will view it as a young person wishing to assert and express themselves creatively, and the toughest line they might take would be to encourage them to go on an art course or a holiday at the taxpayers expense.

Rather they will view it as a young person wishing to assert and express themselves creatively, and the toughest line they might take would be to encourage them to go on an art course or a holiday at the taxpayers expense.
I would recommend camping outside your house in the bushes.
When you see them come back, take one large Viv Richards SS cricket bat, and proceed to batter the shit out of them until they get the message.
After which go inside, pack your bags, and get reaady to go to jail for three months while the motherf***ers launch a legal case against you which results in you losing your job and who knows, your car too?

The side wall of our office has for years been sprayed with graffiti.
We have just left it there as it seems pretty pointless cleaning it up.
Then last year a couple of swastikas and a comment advocating the deportation of members of a particular minority were sprayed on the side of the building.
In less than 48 hours, the Local Authority had dispatched a bunch of lads doing Community Service to clean the lot off with wire brushes and a steam cleaner....
I don't recall that they even asked my permission before setting to work on my office building...

Had a can of specialist graffiti remover, so tried it out, and managed to get half off with no effort whatsoever. Then the can ran out. Didn't take piccies (as it really was cr@p scrawls), but will take a piccie tomorrow and phone the cops for a crime number and their thoughts (trying to keep an open mind)
