Widescreen TVs

Does anyone know of a good 28" widescreen TV that can do the following:

1) switch between wide/normal automatically so you don't end up with normal broadcast being stretched
2) can connect a PC running Windows Xp Media Center edition to it without it looking rubbish

and preferably under £500

I know LCDs are best if you want to connect a PC to them, but I have my reservations on their quality for normal TV viewing.

Eitehr way will be a compromise mate. PCs need a tight dot pitch and high resolution to look good.

TV/DVD pictures need the correct resolution (comparatively low) and good colour reproduction to look good.

You need to decide which is more important. You'll only get one looking really really good.

I figured there might be a compromise and as it's going to be used mainly as a TV, I guess I should focus on that. So do any CRT TVs have DVI input or do you only get them on LCD/Plasma?

Also I've heard that 50Hz is better if you've got Sky as 100Hz can emphasize the compression. Any truth in that?

Not sure about the technical questions, but plenty of high street stores are doing big Sony Wega TVs bundled with DVD players and VCRs for around £500. My parents have a similar model (bought several years ago for well over souble that!) and it's really very good.
