Blue Peter 'racist'

Blue Peter is being investigated by the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) over the appointment of its latest presenter, Zoe Salmon. Ms Salmon - a former Miss Northern Ireland - joined the long-running BBC television show in 2004.

The CRE has received a complaint that the BBC practised racial discrimination by targeting people from Scotland and Northern Ireland for the role.

I, for one am really glad they got rid of that NI weathergirl. I detested her "sharzz of rain". Nearly as annoying as Deadenders Schtupid.

This is not anti-Irish, just her. I have female friends in Eire, and I love their accent.

the workshop wallies have Radio one on all day, the apalling abuse of our language by the illiterates employed by the BBC is beyond me, to my mind, broadcasters should set an example to the impressionable "yoof" not follow them. "innit"

Radio 2 for me now, untill 7pm then cd time.

I have often wondered how the BBC and other 'media' organisations avoid being nailed for sex and race discrimination. I can understand why they perhaps have to have a man playing Hamlet, or a black woman starring in a film about the life of Winnie Mandela (god forbid such a thing) but they always eeems to 'balance' things. If I tried that I am sure I would be hung high by the CRE/EOC.

I'm still awaiting a response from the CRE about a complaint I lodged about the white girl who was banned from wearing dreads to school, despite the fatc that a couple of black/mixed race girls were allowed....

I just want to see if they are in favour of equality or if they're just about promoting ethnic minorities over the indigenous population...

They have five days left to respond

You'rte hard pushed to see whitey on TV these days. Some nights it's like watching Star TV out in the gulf. If ethnic minorities make up 10% of the uK population, or whatever it is about that figure, why are about 50% of TV presenters from minorities groups?

Hence my complaint, I want to see the CRE act when a white person has been discriminated against. I shall definitely take it further if their response is unsatisfactory.

But be serious Blairout-A black girl can have the braids like that and it will look perfectly fine.

A white girl who has them is a Chav-perhaps the school is making a stand against Chav culture.
