It has been confirmed, that after the wedding between Charles and Camilla, Tom Parker Bowles will technically become next in line for the throne as he is older than William.

A constitutional change will be rushed through parliament to remove this anomally, but until the bill is introduced, there is the risk that, if Charles dies suddenly, that Tom will become king.

Why didn't anyone check this before announcing the wedding ? Another massive royal blunder.

He always looks like a tit so well done. We will form a PH committee to come and rescue you from the Tower of London if he ever becomes king.

I too listened to this on Radio 4 this morning.

Lying in bed in a half comatose state listening to the soothing tones of Ed Stourton (for it was he) explaining that, because of a part of the Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (sic) family constitution, in the event of a marriage any children of previous marriages would be in line to succession on the basis of age. Therefore man about town and occasional poker player Tom P B would leap above William and be King. A constitutional expert was bought on to confirm this in grave terms.

In my haf asleep state it took me a full three or four minutes of contemplation to realise it was April 1st.

You won't need to do that. Tonker will become Lord Protector and it's Tom who'll need rescuing

Me too. I had just started to wake up in the shower and was shouting obscenities until it dawned on me.
