anyone know the email address of Reprise?
I picked up Eric Clapton's Me And Mr Johnson last week and due to it's copy protection I can't listen to it at all. I'm sending it back to play.com for a full refund including p&p (top marks to customer service from play
) but want to email Reprise to say I'm upset they feel they need to stop me listening to the record.

Reprise are just another part of one of the 4 major monsters that dominate todays recorded music industry...oh sorry not writing dissertation here!
Reprise are part of warner music group, you might want to try them first.
Does the CD actaully display the CD compact disc logo anywhere?
It is usually in the bottom corner of the case and somewhere in small print on the disc.
If it does and it will not play on your computer they are breaching international standards, in this case Red Book.

I remember when BMG put copy protection on the Natalie Imbruglia White Lillies Island CD. It wouldn't play in anything other than a dedicated CD player which meant I could only play it in my car, not in any of my PC's, my Mac, my DVD/CD player, my PS2...
It was so bad, BMG did a mass replace. You phoned them up, they sent you a prepaid envelope, you sent the CD to them with your name/adress, then a couple of days later they sent you a replacement. Must have cost them a fortune.
If it was me, I'd just download the album off the net. Yes its illegal, but at least it'll play. This sort of copy protection doesn't stop the songs being available on P2P networks, it just encourages people to get an illegal copy they can play, rather than paying for a legal one they cant.

You could always try the "old fashioned way" and ring them up. Try directory enquiries.
With that logo in place they are claiming the disc complies to Red Book standard. That means it must play in a CD Rom, walkman etc..
You might have trouble getting a contact for reprise directly in this country, they are an LA based office of Warner Music Group.
Try Warner Music UK first, if no joy go to the retailer.
Failing that trading standards or the consumer association.
This is not an isolated case and it is worth fighting, also I have noticed that all my recent CD's are failing whereas my old ones are fine.

the retailer, play.com, couldn't be better in that they are taking it back and paying for my p&p to send it there. I have no complaints what so ever with play, indeed sing their praises in my terrible voice quite loudly.
I just want to ensure the record company knows they have lost a sale and future sales as I'll check the record label before purchasing any future CD's from now on.
