Friend had a fraudster use his credit card a year ago. Signed forms to allow the cc company to recoup the loss/chase the villain etc

Police turn up on his doorstep last night stating that he's expected to turn up at court in Scotland next week to act as witness to the prosecution!!!!

he obv. cant drop everything at such short notice & doesnt want to go anyhow...........whats the form?

Its his duty as a member of a civilised society to attend, and chances are he can claim costs.

He needs to speak to the relevant Procurator Fiscal, explain that it will be difficult for him to attend the case, indicate that he does not have much in the way of evidence he can give anyway and ask if he can provide the necessary in writing.

Especially as the cases are often delayed and he will likely as not end up not being called the first day he is there anyway.
