Dougal: Can I stay up tonight to watch the scary film?

Ted: Ah, no no no. The last time you stayed up to watch a scary film you ended up having to sleep in my bed. I wouldn't mind, but it wasn't even a scary film.

Dougal: Come on, Ted. A Volkswagen with a mind of its own. If that isn't scary, I don't know what is.

Folks,

It seems that those of you who are posting here enjoyed the Father Ted series. Champion program.

But to REALLY enjoy it, you would have to be able to realise that (like a lot of the best comedies) it was half joking, but whole in earnest! Roughly translated, it was true to life!

This show shows what it was like in parocial houses in rural Ireland in the 60's and early 70's. Feck drink arse girls (probably more boys than girls)! These places were a breeding ground for alco's, perv's, misfits, psychotics and, of course, god's special children.

At that time in history, these people also had about a 50% share with the government, in running Ireland.

Jaysus, when does it stop getting funny!!

Anyway, Dermot Morgan was a product of that, like so many of us fecked up Irishmen. But didn't he do a great job? Another example of his stuff was Scrap Saturday, a radio show he ran in the 80's. He got fecked out of the national radio/televison station because of his political satire.

The other special children who were not qualified enough for the priesthood, got themselves jobs in RTE, the Irish version of the BBC. These intelectuals felt that the Father Ted show was a poor example of comedy and they would not support the making of the program. Very F*ckin astute, what?

Anyway, continue to laugh in the knowledgs that god's REALLY special children did not make it into the priesthood or RTE.... they made it into government and are running this sh*thole of a country.

Ahhhh. I fell better with that off me chest!
