What is going on with people?
I've been at my parents this evening - Mum has broken her ankle and is a bit down, not to mention being in a fair bit of pain. Anyway, we're all there having a meal and generally trying to raise her spirits a bit, and there are a bunch of kids, aged about 14-16 kicking a ball about outside. Nothing unusual so far, but they keep hoofing it over the wall and into the back garden, despite us asking nicely if they could go somewhere else (we have a perfectly good playing field about 500 yards up the road). Despite the fact we're quite obviously home and despite getting an eyeballing from me, they keep walking down the side of the house and strolling around the garden looking for the ball. I ignore it the first time, as I've got more pressing things to worry about, but they KEEP doing it and in the end, being rather hacked off, I went out and gave them a mouthful about learning some
ing manners and not treating our garden like a sodding public footpath.
Is it just me? Had they knocked and asked if they could get the ball then I wouldn't have minded, it's just the way they quite blatantly ambled into the garden despite us obviously being at home. I know it's trivial, but it has REALLY wound me up. What happened to manners? Just an "excuse me, can I get my ball please?" would do. It's doubtless down to their parents, but surely a tiny bit of common sense tells you that just walking into someone else's back garden is really bloody rude and likely to cause offence?

We used to get this all the time and we have 3 parks in spitting distance.
The ball would come over the fence or land on the garage roof. Drain pipes have been broken and so have fence panels (we have a brick garden wall ourselves) wouldn't mind so much but they don't even live down our street!
It came to a head one day, ball came over fence as i was watching out kitchen window. I let the dog (Rottweiler) into the Garden, Kid jumps up at wall to get into the garden, dog goes balistic, kid's pants turn brown. Then KNOCK KNOCK, can i have my ball back mister (note not a single Please or thank you). I say if i find the ball in my garden one more time the dog keep it.
Now they just play out in the road, what can you do, wait for them to grow up really, the problem never really goes away.
