I've got no problem with Western governments looking after our interests by getting a foot in the door of the worlds major oil producing countries. What i do object to is being fed endless crap about freeing the Iraqi people and making the world a safer place! If Tony and George (sound like extras off rainbow) had stated the reasons behind their decisions instead of pandering to the sensibilities of the hand wringers then i'd have respected them a lot more!

The US pushed for the UN to recognise the abuse in Sudan as "genocide" as this would oblige UN member nations to take action. Predictably the usual veto waving ponces made it perfectly clear they would not allow this to happen. Until certain apparently civilised nations remove their heads from their arses and recognise there is more to foreign policy than playing a doomed one-upmanship game with the United States there is little chance of any coordinated action in war zones. Blinkered 19th century style "spheres of influence" pretensions even stopped the UN Security Council endorsing action in the Balkans.

The damn French are too busy trying to lift an arms embargo on China to be bothered with stopping genocide in the Sudan. Oh, and as ATG stated, vetoing the US call for a "Genocide" label, because that would mandate action! God knows, we can not be having anything resembling action out of those oxygen thieves at the UN!
