Great.. Bricklaying!
Discussion
this afternoon i attempted something I've never attempted before... some bricklaying.
So, i assembled my tools.. A Wall plasterer, a big lump hammer, and a patio tile.
Next, some sand and cement in a harrods bag, knicked from the building works at.. er .. work
And finally a half drunk bottle of mineral water.
So, having knocked the old motar out of the bricks to be relaid, (I knocked them out of the driveway surround with the merc.. whoops) Then lined them up and they did'nt fit anymore, so i thought 'sod it' and hit them with the lump hammer, three cracked into six.. whoops.
So I mixed some sand and cement out of the bag onto the patio slab, and added some mineral water.. (Suitable for vegitarians, what about bricks?). My driveway is on a hill, and i watched teh first load of my readymix disapear off down the driveway. Nevermind, I've got plenty!
So i mixed up some more, and started plastering it into the hole in the wall, adding the bricks. That part went good
So, I am now admiring my handywork out of my bedroom window.. and my readymix is disapearing in the rain storm, and my bricks are naked!
Next time, I'll do it when its dry

I thought it might rain today, and it did, if just for a bit. Instead of bricklaying, I finished breaking up the steps under the back door.
The brickwork is a bit further on than in the picture, but you get the idea.
These are the only bricks I've ever laid in my life. When I started the wall I was getting about 10 a day done. I've now done about 750, nd I can do about 75. I'm still not very good, at it, but it'll be worth it in the end.

(Sir David Attenborough mode on)
The young primate discovers the objects assembled before him.
He prods the various implements laid out on the driveway with a child-like interest.
After a few minutes, he mixes the sand/cement ingredients with his foot . . . . . . . . . . . then urinates on them.
This just proves that we are many, many years ahead of such primates.
