Election winning ideas
Discussion
If you were Mr Bliar, hopefully soon facing unemployment, what ideas would you expect your cronies to come up with to try and save the day? I am talking about ideas that could actually be done without making the UK even worse than it is already. The usual ideas like we “will” do this and that won’t work, it has to be something that the public can see from day one.
My suggestion would be for the governmant to cap standard unleaded and diesel at 75p a litre for their length of term. LPG and super unleaded would also be fixed, the difference in cost being the same as now. This would allow anyone wanting to convert to LPG the option of doing so without being concerned about being shafted by tax changes as they almost certainly will at some point as it stands.
Since probably 75% of fuel retail price is tax this could easily be done, the government would make up any shortfall if a camel sneezes in the middle east. Fuel has crept up 7p odd recently, don’t know why(the real reason) but it just seems like an easy way to pull a few quid in whenever they want some as things stand.
Good idea/bad idea – other ideas?

To be honest this is mere tinkering-it would effect very few peoples votes.
If I were Tony Blair seeking to stay in power my first priority would be some radical proposals on Law and Order definite promises not spin-to try and negate the Tory advantage on the issue.

Fair enough, it's tinkering but who is ever going to believe anything he promises today? It has to be something that the public can see has happened not yet another thing promised that never will.

Tony Blair is very adept at seeming to promise things while doing Fu*k all-if he gave some specific commitments with no wiggle room people might listen.
