Anyone near Fort William?

Who can enlighten me as to the snow conditions just now and whether there is much left on the top? Webcams seem to be not much use just now.

Am taking people up on Saturday and need to know whether ice axes and crampons are required

try www.jagged-globe.com and click news, then message board. Lots of people from that part of the country post there. if you mean Ben Nevis then there is probably some on the plateau but unless you are approaching from the CIC hut you wont encounter any.
After teh past week, I would be surprised if you needed crampons and axes anywhere now though.

Good, that's what I was hoping re the snow. I reckoned it should be fine but was in the Dales this past weekend and someone was spinning me all sorts of horror stories about fourteen feet of snow. Fine for me, but I don't want to kill all my friends.

hope you enjoy it. let us know how you get on! a very early start is recommended as it can get busy on the summit! plus it leaves more time drinking afterwards!
