AFAIK cautions are only on the system for two years. (It might be worth posting this on SP&L to confirm.)
I was formally cautioned in 1990, in 1994 I had to fill in a disclosure form like yours and didn't mention the caution. I had no problems (but I did have a few sleepless nights worrying about it
). It might have helped that I was cautioned in South Wales and the form was for a post in Yorkshire.

Send the form back with "F k off" written in CAPS in red ink on it.
Apparently all traffic offences are ignored, but are simply used to gauge "who is honest". Still makes me feel like a criminal having to fill it in.

I know I wasn't helping much
It's just a pet hate that so many organisations seem to want to put you under the magnifying glass for, often, quite trivial reasons.
I would not concern yourself too much about a minor traffic conviction disclosure. I had to disclose a TS10 about eight years ago and it made absolutely no difference to my application and I was offered the job. It was a lecturing job in FE, so they are pretty thorough.

Not lecturing about colour coding though presumably
You didn't say what job you are applying for, but this might be early warning of a firm that you don't really want to work for/with.
Just a thought.
Whatever you do with the app, if I were in your place I'd keep hunting and assume whatever I wrote on the app had disqualified me for the job.
Get a car-related job if you can. Or check out the oilfield, it should be a good place to work now, if you are fit and willing to work hard the blue collar stuff probably does not all require experience (since they have probably already hired all the experienced hands) and pays well. At the same time it can be very unforgiving if you don't keep your head about you at all times. I dont' think they insist on a choirboy record either...
