What's a "good night out"?

I am looking for information. We all know that if you have a lot to drink you may well be over the limit the next day, but how much do you drink on a really good night out? And what if its a "day out"?
I was amazed when I learned that a young guy I knew had been out with his mates for the day, sank his first pint about 1130 and then went on to drink 16 more plus some brandy before he managed to find his way home around midnight! Thinking about it later I realised this is less than 2 pints per hour and although the total sounds extreme I doubt if its a record...although not one I would try to beat! What's the PH experience and is this an average amount for a man about town?

images of Jade Goody suddenly appear. I reckon a good night out ends in the lava of a midlife crisis oozing out of a fault. My last good night out ended in a very embarrasing situation.
Since there are people offended by my dirty laundry, I will respect them and keep quiet.

That seems pretty average,I would replace the brandys with aftershocks though and I would never be home by midnight or the mrs would think I had something to hide
OK - so everyone agrees that a "Good Night Out" is one we would like to remember (but can't!) - but I am trying to get some idea about how much booze actually gets drunk. Can you tell me in units of alcohol please - one unit=half pint ordianry beer or small scotch or one small glass wine. Does 30 units sound about right and what would be excessive?

Trying to actually answer the question then...
Personally, what tends to happen is that I will watch the pints as they go down, and probaly replace the last couple with JD and Coke. So we are looking at 10-14 units by kicking out time. I would expect to top this with a large brandy/whisky at home, so call it around 20 units and not that far off.
Still, am 34 now, so less and less frequent these days

In the reigon of 60 drinks at parties, 30-50 at pubs. A drink being a shot of tequila or a bottle of beer etc, not sure about units.
Ive had my share of week-long hangovers too (aka alcohol poisoning
) Its all part of growing up, and learning where your limits are 
I even convinced a bar tender that I'd won the Canadian national drinking championships once
