Evening.

Before we beging I should say that I an a bit inerberated... obviously enough to be posting this on pistonheads but still sober enough that I can try. At least I hope that is the case.

I've been our wuith some friends from work for the past two nights in a trow and, in the course of the evenings have spoken a fair bt with a girl who works in the same place as me. We dont work with eachother directly. So basically I really like her and am now really confused about what to do. Basically I'd sort of like to ask her out kind of, bt don't know know how/where/when, never having done this before . . She doesn't seem to hate me either, we have had a few good conversations and she has even been nice about my new haircut. I really like her. but im quiet scare of asking her incase it all goes horribly wrong.

Thinking that the people here would know what to do I turn to you. I'm a bit scared of doing this and I'd like some advice. please don't rip the piss. Thanks in advance. I will keep you up to date of the situation (so that you get some fun out of it too).

If you don't ask her, you'll always kick yourself. I know this from bitter experience.

Face it, if she's offended, do you want her as a friend anyway?

I'd just ask her if she was 'free sometime - let me buy you dinner'. Be totally flexible.

If you stay off the booze (to avoid losing sight of the objective) and you both think the experience is worth repeating you could ask her out as you drop her off at home. The next time let her decide what you are going to do, and where you are going to go.

Repeat until you are either sick of each other or married.

Inerberated Aye, sounds like it was a good night

Mate of mine was in a similar boat about a year ago, asked for my advice. I told him to get some of email rapport going with jokes/funnies etc, you can get some sort of handle on the way things are developing by the feedback.

He was a bit apprehensive about mailing her direct so I said just add her to a small group of folks and see if she hits you back. He did this for a week or two, was getting good vibes so asked her out for a drink.

They got engaged 2 months ago.

No, he will offer you a WHOCT as a gift for her and advise you to take her up the OXO Tower.

I would ask her.
If you are still nervous, ask her for a drink, just the two of you. If this goes well, then offer a meal. If you go for the meal option first, if it becomes clear from the off, that in a couple situation, it isn't working, you are in a awkward situation, and she might not feel comforttable going this route frist off.
Over all, if you ask her and she says no. Just turn the conversation round quickly with lighthearted chat and keep the situation comfortable.

But.... JUST DO IT and good luck. You only live once, and if you don't do it, you will never know!

Its always a bit nerve racking when you are first asking girls out.

The first time was when I had met a really nice girl (while Temping) and I was a nervous wreck before I finally called her up-only to discover she already had a boyfriend.

You only live once, so give it a try-why not find out whether she likes any movies out at the moment and then ask her to go with you to it. To my mind that is a bit less of a 'date' than asking her to dinner.

I would ring her up and say 'Hi, it's Powerhorse here. Any chance of a shag?'

She will appreciate your directness and honesty and if she says 'Yes', you will have saved loads of time and money beating about the bush (hers).

If she says 'No', then you will still have saved loadsa time and money. It will also demonstrate that she isn't as much fun as you thought she was.

Yup, too right, just go for it, otherwise you'll regret it, besides women like confident guys, and if you make her laugh, you've won half the battle....

After all, faint heart ne'er won fair lady, and all that.....

I would definately reccomend this. Getting ratted, then beaten up, then having to take her up the hospital with a broken foot from kicking the guys trying to re-arrange my face is definately NOT the best tactic.

haha Rob that is great... who has the broken foot? You or "hotgirl?" I hope whoever it is is okay. How are you going to play GPL with a broken foot?

The girl, although nothing was broken on the x-ray so it's just badly bruised or something. I'm not quite sure, she hasn't text me back funnily enough...

To the original poster - just ask her out to dinner. If she makes a big deal about it and reacts badly she isn't worth having, so it can't end badly. Regret the things you do do, not the things you don't!

I'd say just start gently - lunch on a weekend afternoon (daylight, food not overwhelming, no compulsion to go back to anyone's house). Give yourself time to work out whether, if it did/didn't work out, what you'd have to gain or lose socially from it. You'd be surprised how quickly large swathes of people stop talking to you (or are put off getting to know you) if you get the brush-off from, or hit it off with, the 'wrong' person. Don't think with your balls - ask yourself 'will this work'.

Sorry to be a bit technical, but sometimes it's best if you're uncertain with someone.

Yup, I definately could have used that advice a while ago.
