hmm some advice if you please

I ordered a couple of music CD's worth £21 (converted from $ to £) from a Californaian company and recieved an email on the 5th of April to say they have been shipped and to expect within 3-5 working days.

It's now been 10 postal days so I emailed them to enquire as to the usual time scale involved and if they could find out what was happening. It took four days to get a reply and apparently 2-3 days is the norm but now they have my money they say it can be 3weeks if customs "have them". They suggested "I ring customs and the local post office" etc to find out what is happening. That is pretty much impossible as I have no idea which customs office the Cd's would come through, if they are even in this country or what postage methods they use etc.

Personally, I'm of the opinion at the moment that it's not my problem - I'm not a particulary patient man by nature, but am happy to wait a few extra days since it's coming from a different continent. Surely if I'm told it will take 3-5 days and then when they have my money the delivery time jumps to 3 weeks & the onus is then placed on me to find the bloody things it doesn't seem right? (play.com for instance have no troubles and out of the 100's of CD's that have come through customs none have been late)

The emails take for ever to gain a reply (which I'm guessing is partially due to the time difference) and I'll admit they do say "keep us informed as to what happens" and seem a friendly enough company, but don't seem to want to help. They have also appear to have just chucked them into the standard post so they don't have any tracking numbers, insurance etc.

I'm almost at the stage of emailing back and saying I'll wait until Wednesday or so and that either they find the CD's and tell me whats happening or I'll be informing BarclayCard to get the money back. Is this reasonable?

Whenever i've ordered CDs from the US it's taken at least 3 weeks on standard post.

The last time I ordered from the US it took less than a week from a induvidual artist themselves (i.e. paid the artist via Paypal and she posted it out).

Is there any way to track them?

I used to order loads of CDs from the USA. On average, it took about 5 working days when i ordered from companies, but when i bought from private sellers it took a little longer sometimes, but i always received them

All depends how it's sent afaik. If it's just boggo land mail it'll take a fair while and can't be tracked. Air mail is a bit more sophisticated i think.

I'd give it another day or two, then ask the company for proof of postage

If they can't supply that claim back of CC
