Captain Pugwash v Rainbow :eek

Those PH members of a certain age (30s or older) will remember growing up with Captain Pugwash and are probably now aware of some of the dodgy double entendres therein. I mean, a sailor called Seaman Staines can mean something to adults that it doesn't to children.

Over the weekend, the attached clip of that old television favourite, Rainbow was brought to my attention. Yes, Geoffrey (as in the Show me the way to Amarillo video), Bungle - the camp bear, Zippy (God only knows what he is supposed to be), and George the pink pigmy hippopotamus.

And I do believe that Seaman Staines was never in Captain Pugwash... urban myth I'm afraid! The cabin boy was also called Tom, not 'Roger'...

Captain Pugwash names are urban myth as pointed out - the bookself in Noddy did have porno titles in it though!

and talking about double entendres in kids shows - saw MOM on Saturday morning and there the presenters were, chatting about Ray 'polishing his helmet'!!!

I'm not so sure that the Pugwash double-entendres weren't there.
There WAS an Able Seaman Staines, Tom the cabin boy and the Master Mate... but Pugwash always spoke like he had a cold, so it did often sound like Master Bate....
