I like the Telegraph and the Guardian because both report well and are honest about where they stand. I don't like the Times (taken relentlessly downmarket by Murdoch) and I hate the Independent. Robert Fisk makes me see red.
Most days though, I just read the FT.
The tabloids are just not worth my time.

Like : El Mundo, El País. The only English paper I buy is the Sunday Times, for the Driving section + tv guide. I don't really like it.
Loath: Daily Express / Mail. Anything that pretends to be 'above' the tabloids, but still leads with "Asylum seeker lords it up in 12 bedroom mansion, smoking NHS-prescribed crack" etc etc
I really enjoyed that "Never seen a nipple in the Daily Express" poem!

My brother buys the Star every day and I read it whenever I go home. It's a great timesaver as it takes less than a minute to read!
I'll probably get slated for saying this, but of the red tops, the Mirror is by far the best read. It's interesting to get the leftist viewpoint without the whining we-know-best, middle class guilt complex of the Guardian, and it's also distinctly less lairy than the Sun and the Star.
At this juncture, I think it's worth restating that I *really* feckin hate the Daily Mail!

When get passed all the pictures of Abi Titmus and/or Lucy Pinder, you'll find the reading content quite easy going...nothing over two syllables
All printed news, hell, all news full stop is hideously biased and selectively reported.
Having said that, we have to consume it somewhere, so:
Favourite : The Times - At least its interesting, erudite in places and not left-wing.
Most Hated : The rest of them, and the Times for their lovely biased bit of reporting on PH. Hell at least we got a full page... (or was it 2?)
I stopped buying the times for about a month after that, but gave up after the realising how crap the rest of them were...

What was that about?
Guardian I have a like/hate relationship with. Don't like the way its written for people in the 'caring professions' and all that goes with that. I find that I don't read much past the main storys if theres a copy about, but I do think that the main reporting is usually quite well done.
The Times is the paper I read the most as I know that as well as the main stories I'll read a lot of the other articals as well - it'll keep me interested for an hour or so. Also I know my way around it which I think counts for a lot. Sunday Times provides something to read for the whole week.
The Observer, don't read it much but they have it the pub now and again and I usually end up thinking its an OK paper.
Then there's the Daily Mail nasty, alarmist rag - seems to make its money on the back of (stirred up) fear.
And of course all the red tops which again are full of crap and sometimes cringeworthy naffness, though I guess they do get news through to a lot of people who otherwise wouldn't read.

Favourites? Telegraph on Saturdays, Times, Observer (I know it's published by the Guardian but it's got a completely different editorial line-up, fairly good news coverage, a great review section and no witterings from the likes of Monbiot and Toynbee. It's good to have a bit of balance in what you read)
Dislike? the Daily Mail and the Guardian, because both are at opposing self-righteous ends of the same scale of sanctimony. I can't stand anyone who comes out with opinions presented as fact, then claims the moral high ground as a result.
Hate with a passion? The red-top tabloids. The Sun, the Sport, the News Of The World, the Star - all of them. It's heartening to see that statistics show Britain has the highest intake of daily newspapers, then you realise that the majority of them are these. IMO the red-tops are almost single-handedly responsible for the dumbing-down of the British public. They also sum up everything that's wrong with Britain - simmering prejudice, an obssession with the trivial, and a puerile sexuality so cheap and smutty it's a complete turn-off.
