What is this please?

Unfortunately I trod on it and appeared to have killed it. Still scared the crap out of me though.

It looks like an adder to us. My husband had to remove one from his Mum's house just like that one. He's terrified of them and only just managed to do it! You were lucky as they do bite!

Looks like a grass snake to me too.

I used to keep a Carolina Corn Snake like this one



and it was brilliant for scaring off the peg selling pikies from my door.

Never been a fan of grass snakes. Love Pythons though and have held a few 12 foot ones round my neck
