Ipod shuffle

Does anyone have a ipod shuffle?
I'm looking for something really small for the gym, but I cannot decide whether to get one or a 4gb mini ipod.
I only really wanna put a few cd's on it.

I'm also trying to find out if you can charge one from the wall or only through the computer?

Bought my g/f one for her birthday; she's very pleased with it. The size and weight are unbelievable, although I can't compare it to a mini Ipod as I haven't any experience of those. You can buy a charger that plugs into the wall for about £15.

don't get the I pod shuffle its a overpriced pos
almost any other flash mp3 is cheaper and better (ie has a screen)

why is having a screen better, do you have eyes in your pocket?? don't screens just suck up battery life etc...

got my ipod mini from boots few weeks ago, cost 99.99, very pleased with it. Battery life isnt much tho.

The whole point of the ipod shuffle is to provide a small unit that can hold a decent amount of songs. It does just what it says, shuffles through the music, so no need for the screen.

And yes, I think its a POS, cause I couldnt imagine just shuffleing through my library since I have different music for different moods.

It doesnt just shuffle it will play them in the order you added them too.

didnt realise till the other day the ipod mini has a shuffle mode, if you can pick one up 100 quid ish id get one of them.

I've just got a Rio Carbon and I'd recommend it highly.



5Gb of memory (vs 4Gb for Mini iPod) and 20 hours of battery life (vs 8hours). I'm amazed at how small and light it is - noticably more compact than my mates mini iPod. It's also highly rated by What Hi Fi and Stuff magazines:

iPod minis come in 6 gig now and battery life of 12 hours, thats a real time of 12 hours, its also got miles more accessories avalable for it. I bet the rio never gets 20 hours unless used in a certain way.

Thumbs up for the shuffle, mine is permanently attached to my ears at the moment

You can get an AC->USB or faglighter->USB adapter for them if you're going to be nowhere near a USB port for any length of time. Normally only needs charging once or twice a week with several hours listening a day, for me.

I read about that, but didn't think they were out yet? I've got a feeling the article I read mentioned a battery life of 18 hours for the new iPod, so you might be right about 12 hours "real" time. Either way, it seems the Rio still wins on battery life. It also wins on size, something of particular concern to the original poster. It also wins because it doesn't tie you into using iTunes and because it supports WMA files. Finally, it wins for the simple fact that it's not an iPod!

You're right about the accessories too, but accessories aren't something that I'm bothered about. All I'm interested in is getting some decent earphones for the thing (a bugbear on both the Rio and iPod IMO!).

What about the Creative Zen Micro? Available in a larger range of colours than the mini iPod and with 5gb for the price of the 4gb mini ipod! I am considering one of these bad boys but want to flog my barely used minidisc player on eBay first!
