E-mail to the Green Party
Discussion
I'm not usually one for engaging with election candidates, but I've just about had a tits full of the propoganda invading my property courtesy of the green party, so I just sent this:
I said:
Hi Keith,
For the second time in less than a week, some more of your lentilist propoganda has, this morning, found it's way though my letterbox. Surely if you gave the slightest toss for the environment, you wouldn't be wasting the world's resources producing and distributing this laughable junk? You must know that your efforts are utterly futile, as despite the comical graph in your latest effort, neither you or any other Green Party candidate has a hope of winning a parliamentary seat?
Thankfully, despite the ongoing dumbing down of the populace of this country, the vast majority still have the good sense not to vote for your party. Having said that, don't lose heart, I've seen on more than one occassion people keeping a completely straight face whilst saying they plan to vote Lib Dem, so perhaps there's hope for you yet!
Cheers
TGS
P.S. I could have sworn I saw the person who delivered this leaflet sppeding away from the scene in a 5 litre v8 engined sportscar, but I may be mistaken on that one. ;o)

I don't see the point in this: it just comes across as snide.
Fair enough, bit IMO it makes the very fair point that a party that stands almost entirely on environmental issues is wasting the resources it claims to want to protect on what is ultimately a futile campaign.

But he defeats his point by being aggressive. By all means write to them and make a point, but if you insult them in the first paragraph it just won't get read. I know i'd have filed that under B for Bin after about 10 seconds.

These people are the old loony hard left control freaks.
They hit the bin at the first whiff of dissent, so it doesn't really matter.
My local greenies want to ban cars, lorries and aircraft.....ban travel.....make us live on locally grown carrots and spuds......and live in caves.

Yep, and about time too. Better snide and truthful than pinko-green and utter b0ll0x
Well, last I checked "truthfulness" and politeness were not mutually exclusive. And this was not some valid criticism of their policy, it was an obnoxious rant. I'm not sure what the original poster hoped to achieve by sending this email, other than scoring some kudos with the likes of you, Turbobloke.

Maybe they were winding up folk the likes of you, SuckMyChrsitmas.
If you think I'm a green supporter, then I'm sorry to tell you I'm not. And if you think I'm a lentilist, then, again, I'm sorry to tell you that I'm not.

Enough! I certainly didn't intend to start a petty squabble between PHers!
My intention was (1) to stop the Greens bombarding me with their propoganda, and (2) to point out the hypocracy of their mass leafleting tactics, not just once per household, but on multiple occasions (and not even on recycled paper!). (3) to get an explanation as to how they reconcile their Green credentials with the aforementioned mass leafleting approach.
It looks like I've got a result on (1). On (2), the candidate has clearly read my e-mail, so presumably has noted the point, although I very much doubt whether they'll change their tactics as a result. No joy on (3) as yet. Perhaps their struggling with a rational response?
I'm sorry if my post offended you, but it seems the recipient of the e-mail has taken it with perfectly good grace, so perhaps everyone should agree to disagree?
