Yesterday two poll cards arrived at my house, now the two names are not, and have never been resident here.
strangly enough the local labour party MP wrote to one of the names twice in the last three weeks, invite to coffee morning.
I have checked with the council and I am not on their electoral register and therefore will not get a vote.
Do you think these ghost voters are part of some scam too swing it labours way?
Buy the way the two names do not appear at 192.com anywhere in this town.

Funnily enough, we've got a dodgy extra polling card that's turned up at our student house. We're thinking of going in to vote at the beginning of the day, then going back later with the other polling card.
Well if they are going to send it...
I have a feeling Labour have 'created' all these votes and are expecting people to hand in their 'surplus', bewildered, when Labour 'vote' for them.

Not the whole country but the media led by the BBC/Guardian set.
These same people adopt a see no evil policy when it comes to Labour.
I have 2 polling cards.. one for current house and one for the old .. so could vote twice (I assume?!)
.. but I don't remember doing anything more than writing my name on the electoral roll form to say I live here - Could have stuck anything on it...
do they check ID at the polling station or if you were to get postal votes for fake people?!

Give it another few days.
I wonder how secure the system is; thought there would be more stringent rules for registering to vote. However, it doesn't seem so - even the missus told me she voted twice in the 92 election; once in her Brighton student house and then after driving home voted there as well... registered in two places at once, makes you wonder!

But it has to arrive in Switzerland and I have to send it back. Worried about the UK postal system getting it through quick enough.

Doesn't even need to be that hard... NI number will probably do.. get a PC at the Polling booth which they enter it in which verifies details and if you have voted already- Probably not perfect - but better!
The more I think about it the more it just seems dodgy.. the amount of wrong polling cards is bad enough.. but postal voting is just wrong as there's too much chance someone else will see your vote (possibly affecting what you put)... or worse just tell you what to put.. .. twas on the news.. the man of the family gets postal votes for everyone and says "We're labour in this household" and fills the forms in for all family members.

Get over it! Bush won here by enough votes to obviously be beyond the capabilities of fraud! You sound just like our left Dems. Now, when the Dems hire a bus to drive people to the polls and feed them free food along the way....that is just fine...Bull $hit!

If you are registered in 2 (or more) constituencies (as I am) then you can vote in both sets of local elections but only once in national and euro elections.
If you've got 2 votes within the same council area then you I expect the 'only vote once' rule also applies then.

Sorry to tell you this Mutt K but it could be easily eliminated with some will and the application of technology.
Good point Jag. Here when someone takes action to stop voters from voting in two seperate states and purges deceased persons from the voting rosters, or questions whay a community has more registered voters than population, the Democrats scream voter fraud??? They are so worried that they are losing their built-in voter block created from years of entitlement and dependency. It is enough to make one want to set off an "idiot nuke"!
