Now India marks UK exams!
Discussion
After farming ou directory enquiries, phone banking und medical records to India... now GCSE amrking ist now being off-loaded to India...
So far .. several thousand papers this year have been returned late und Indian examiners struggle to understand our kids' language. (OK -- so UK ones do too
) Ist beside the point....
AQA (North West formerly JMB und NREB or something) has entere £2 million deal for History, French
, German (even more
und Italian (evena moraghhh
agh!
) to be marked in India...where salries for marking scripts ist even lower than here....
Trouble ist forecast for summer.. they will not cope mit 2 millions papers if they cannot cope mit few thousand already...
Given reported problems in other areas... ist daft. AQA say papers those requiring one word answers.
Und thus they admit ... exam ist easier. NO essays are thought required ... just one word answers...
Pah!

So long as you're not marking the English parers Wildy

FFS!
THAT WAS, AND WAS AGAIN GOING TO BE MY SUMMER JOB
How the
can any discrepancies (and there are a lot, believe me) be worked out between the exam board and the schools if the papers are thousands of miles away? And what if they get lost? Lost in the UK postal service at least means they'll be in this country - what happens when someone finds a load of maths papers stuck in a mailbox in Bengal? How are you going to sort them out there?
Outsourcing a service that is only of benefit to the UK is abject madness

Long term the UK is surely set to become a luxury island.
It does throw up an interesting scenario though, if business is allowed to freely trade accross international borders but people are restricted from attempting free movement are countries like the UK going to suffer from an ever increasing indigenous unemployment problem in the medium term?

Calm down people
I don't see how people who so calmly accept that many of the products they buy are produced abroad get so panicky about outsourcing.
Look around you-everyone who wants a job has got one.
Outsourcing is merely the subcontracting of low skill (for the most part) service jobs abroad in the same way as manufacturing.
It benefits the UK economy and as a side benefit benefits the Indian economy.

Last year at AQA? I worked there the year before, and I was going to be working for them this summer too, but I'm wondering if they'll still want me now.
No wonder we've got so many 'infrequently employed' people in this country - there's nowhere to employ them any more! I've no idea where the government are getting their high employment figures from.

Lucky you! I ended up working in what amounted to a giant greenhouse with about 200 people, no opening windows, no aircon and about 3 desk fans - for a room the size of a cathedral. And that was the summer it hit 100 degrees...
Somewhat ironically you could have been in Bangalore...
