Parking Tickets - how many have you had

Never had one, although it was a close call around xmas time. Both my Mum and Step-Dad got tickets independently, from the same warden, within 2 hours of each other. Towards the end of that day - and despite the fact I knew about both those incidents - I almost got caught out whilst visiting the newsagents, again by the same warden.
He tried to imply that my car was parked too far out from the curb; his reasoning being that my wheels were "on and over the white parking line" - it didn't occur to him until requested by myself that he should look at the wheels closest the curb, which were 2" or so away from it. It's virtually impossible, unless driving a Mini or something (the old-style one), to park away from the curb and within the white parking lines.
Still, I bet the little bar-steward would have left a ticket had I not been around to stop him.

I decided not to say anything. 'If you have nothing nice to say, dont say anything at all' etc. I was in the wrong, half an hour over the limit, didnt think I had a chance in hell and those guys guys get it in the neck enough as it is... I always park on yellows so consider myself lucky, in a sense.
Never had one, never will do. I have a certain amount of sympathy with people who run a few minutes over their time and get pounced on, but bad parking really pisses me off. Oh, I'll only be a couple of minutes, I'm just posting a letter...

1 - For parking across a bay in my road because there was nowhere else to, I was in no way inconveniencing anyone else or blocking the road whatsoever.
I contested it, then eventually had to pay up. I then hunted down the Nazi who issued it and bawled the b*stard out in the centre of town on a Saturday afternoon.
I've also not paid my council tax until I've received a final demand since. Small beans and a minor protest I grant you but where I live these scummers have nothing to do with keeping traffic moving or any interest in residents being able to park in their own streets... it's just another revenue stream.

Very easy to pick 'em up 'round here as the council's still smarting at the locals' having the temerity to demand they withdraw plans for a parking permit scheme.
It seems they had already figured the £1m profit from the scheme into their budget for the following year, so they responded by applying for de-regulation of the parking and taking over enforcement duties. Made their £1m back in the 1st 9 months of operation.
To say the wardens are a tad overzealous is putting it mildly. (As well as hypocritical - they think nothing of double parking and dumping their motor on double yellows in rush hour in order to get as many tickets written as possible). In fact, they'll often hang fire on writing a ticket until the tow-truck is physically blocking in the offending motorist, slap the ticket on and have it lifted in about 30sec flat so as to avoid any pesky MOP driving off and "getting away" with just the fine...
My count so far stands at about 3 tickets, 1 clamp and 1 tow-away and I'm really really careful about when and where I park.
