Hershey's

Just had my first taste of Hershey's chocolate. Why on earth does it taste so vile! It tastes like someone has spewed into the choloate whilst mixing it Give me Cadbury's any day.

Yep, with the exception of Reeses Nutrageous, Peanut Butter Cups and Baby Ruth bars the septics dont do chocolate well.

But then, the french would say the same about us...

Oh thank god for that - I hate the stuff too. Tastes like cardboard which has been soaked in coffee..... nasty stuff...

I remembered them tasting good, very good. At the factory once, we were allowed to take home as much chocolate as we could carry, broken bars etc. And I remember them being very good, even if I do stand alone in saying so.

I quite like it !!

I think they have added something in the chocolate to stop it melting hence the taste is funny.

I'm a Swiss choclate fan myself, Suchard, Lindt, Lindor, Milka etc...

I love hershey's chocolate.

Although the bars can be a little rich, the kisses are perfect (Hershey's kisses are small teardrop shaped "blobs" of chocolate, individually wrapped.).

They arent on par with the really nice swiss chocolate, but as somoething different, they are great.

Doesn't the Hershey's stuff have anti-melting chemicals in it which is why it tastes a bit duff?

I remember their Cadbury's being just as crud (I know they sell Hershey's under the name of Cadbury's over there too.)

So they know the ingredients of our Cadbury's but choose to make it differently anyway. I think it's a matter of palletes.

On one of my visits home I picked up some Cadbury's to allow my collegues to sample in NY. They hated the stuff

The only nice thing Hershey's do is their chocolate syrup to pour on your ice cream. That stuff is lovely

Useless fact. In Saudi Arabia they consume tons of chocolate - mainly the ex-Rowntree and Mars ranges - and the kids have quite a big weight problem. For obvious reasons it's all stored in chill cabinets, and tre`ted much like we treat Ice Cream. MInstrels are a big seller.

You can buy Creme Eggs at the Larrys Hypermarket in Atlanta along with cadburys hot chocolate and even black pudding.

More useless (but possibly relevant) facts:

One of MrsV6's French cousins insists on us bringing over sacks of Creme Eggs whenever we visit!

Chocolate-based confectionery in UK army rations tend to be covered in Arabic writing.

Used to know somebody who worked for Cadburys. Apparently any split chocolate was left until it set hard and then chipped off, bagged and sold to Eastern European countries.
