What can be done to combat the rights without responsibilities culture, at such a young age?

Seen extracts of this on the news yesterday. Most of the kids were black kids, you could tell from the voices and the bodge job of covering their identity. They had no respect whatsoever for the teachers. They were powerless.

So far I think it's proving that the Labour 'social inclusion' attitude just drags everyone down to the level of the disruptive minority. That's what anti-elitism does for you.

Its why my children will never set foot in a state run school, I would never think of speaking to a teacher like these brats do. In fact during my schooling i can't remember one incedent of a pupil ever talking to a teacher like this..

These little brats just need a damn good Canning!

Can't manage a whole one myself, but if they came in normal size cans then that's another plate of meat altogether!

I think what that documentary summed up was the need for the schools to be run, zero-tolerance, by the teachers. Politicians aren't the education experts and should drop all the hand-binding regulations, SATS and rigid curriculum.

Neither should they be run by the kids. I went to a secondary school that said 'there are no rules, you should know how to behave'. Yep, all very open and liberal etc, but when kids are brought up not knowing right from wrong, how are schools supposed to plug the gap?

Until these twin issues are addressed, schools will continue churn out chavs.

I would send my kids to a private school or a state school proven to be very, very good, but this makes me feel ever so sorry for the responsible parents who can't afford to choose.

I'm wimping out and taking the relaxing option with Grand Designs. besides, iv'e run out of slippers to chuck at the tv.

I watched Grand designs instead-but I read about the programme in the Telegraph.

The greatest problem with State education is discipline-and far from helping matters Labour is making things worse by limiting schools powers to exclude pupils and closing 'special' schools for those with behavioural problems.

If you don't give children discipline and boundaries, this is what happens. A teacher can't even touch a child anymore, and children are intelligent enough to know this. Also if you celebrate mediocrity and not the exeptional then no child is allowed to shine. People are not the same, some are more intelligent, some are better at certain things etc, this current government should remember this.
