Pikeys pay tax like you and me!

Yep, that was the statement made by some pikey community campaigner on BBC 3Counties this morning. Her main points in defense of the pikeys were:
1) "Crime often goes down when travellers enter an area, if it does go up, its local opportunists who knwo the travellers will be blamed" Yeah, right
2) "Travellers pay the same tax as everyone else - they pay tax on their cars, pay VAT on goods..." OK, no mention of income tax
3) "Travellers suffer huge stress when they are moved on, often the kids are moved close to the end of term. They just want to be settled and not have to move their kids and dogs..." What part of 'traveller' does she not understand
I really give up!

Nothing short of ludicrous 
My girlfriends parents have a friends who own a nice tearoom. One day, the pikeys decended upon the place. The kids were climbing up ONTO the tables, trying to steal crips and confectionary, adults were vile, vilgar, the usual really. They (big group, all seated at various tables) all finished at once and tried to leg it without paying, vandalising or kicking things over and breaking 'things' (cant remember the exact details now) outside.
Effectually, a mini tornado had hit the place. The owners had never experienced anything like it before.

What the hell have these scum got in common with Romany Gypsies? They from Ireland - not eastern Europe FFS!
The firm I work for have put up new facilities on Traveller camps. We endured blantant thefts (one site manager quit on account of being threatened when he had the temerity to ask for some tools back) air gun attacks and human S**t left around the site and on the scaffolding!
I really don't think you can be too harsh on them.
One of my colleagues piped up with this beauty; 'well don't they have the right to live how they want?' to which my answer was 'only when it doesn't adversely impact on other people'. Bloody do-gooders!

I would have thought that low flying cricket balls would soon have made them pack up and leave, its a cricket pitch after all...

FFS Why abandon the game - play on i say, just make sure you have plenty of spare balls to replace those that go into the vans!
A few months ago there was a group of 20 or so pikey vans parked up on a business estate car park I know. "Great spot" they thought. Then they realised they were backing on to the distribution warehouse for one of the largest catalogues in the country. The drivers didn't seem to like the pikeys much and so spent the next 12 hours or so turning up radios to full and banging their horns. Exit pikeys stage left

Then they realised they were backing on to the distribution warehouse for one of the largest catalogues in the country. The drivers didn't seem to like the pikeys much and so spent the next 12 hours or so turning up radios to full and banging their horns. Exit pikeys stage left

Yes, that's a very real fear of mine too.
I'd be very worried if my property was close to open land.
Some villagers are having to buy land put on the market by farmers to stop 'travellers' buying it then setting up an encampment.
These scumbags are so vile that words can hardly do justice to them.
They invaded a site my company were selling, I had to clear them off. I saw:
The utter indifference of the police, where five of the pikeys beat up one female security guard to get in. Police just did not want to know.
the wanton and systematic destruction of the property, every pane of glass smashed, every door kicked in.
the excrement everywhere - with kids running about in it, cost £thousands to clear up - the pattern was smash up the toilet and cistern, then crap in the sink and on the floor, on the stairs, in the offices etc.
the excuses given when the bayliffs came to evict them, about how there are sick children in the caravans - who were running about a few minutes before!
The usual waste / garden refuse dumped from local houses where the pikeys had intimidated the residents into paying them for clearance.
Lots of theivery in the local area, with trailers, vehicles etc. being nicked.
It really is one thing that makes me mad when you get the apologists on whining about how "this is thier lifestyle choice, and we should respect it"
None of the vehicles were taxed, and I would thought it most unlikely that much income tax was paid by them. Stuff nicked from the local shops doesn't carry VAT does it?
Push them off the planet - it will be better for it.

I not going to defend the Romany community but not all of them are bad.
I can think of loads of people in areas like Mile Cross, Larkman and other parts of Norwich who are pretty scummy.
Norwich has big problems with Heroin and Crack and these folks are as real a problem.
In my village we had 6 Heroin Addicts at one time one is now dead as a result but during that time the crime rate went through the roof hardly a car radio was left or anything else that was not bolted down.
I can think of loads of people in areas like Mile Cross, Larkman and other parts of Norwich who are pretty scummy.

Same thing happened in Exeter last week. We were told "we're locking the gates at night now, toot your horn to attract the security guard". Ever heard a scania horn at 4am? 'kin loud !
They'd gone in two days.
