Excellent! It may not be as detailed as the A-Z, but if you want to find a route from point A to B, its much quicker than using any other online map (multimap, AA, RAC etc). Big thumps up for Google.

Oh and for those in the US of A there is also the option to view the country with a sat photos.

You ultimately get more detail with an A-Z based map (as served up by MultiMap), but for general use Google Maps is deeply impressive.

Google maps looks like it will revolutionise the online mapping business.

The ability to drag the map around is superb and they've started to populate it with businesses so you can see where they are via pins in the map and then link to their websites.

Very, very impressive and will be a wakeup call to the likes of streetmap who haven't developed their systems for several years now.

I have tried these but I still like the interactive maps on the routeplanner on www.rac.co.uk - they seem to do everything google does (and its been there for a couple of years) unless I am missing something

I’m sure it’s very good, but it won’t work on a Mac unless you have Firefox!

Go to the US Maps, change to satellite & start scrolling, you can see all of the UK & Europe if you pan East enough....

Map24 does all that though and has been available for years...

True, although I did once try to use it for a set of directions to somewhere and it was the most nonsense ever seen on a sheet of A4.

Perhaps the Dutch do directions differently?
