Trains getting cheaper?

My wife's £4000 season ticket has just gone up by 8%.
The service is unreliable, uncomfortable, inconvienient and rather than report late figures they CANCEL the sodding things. Oh but they hit their targets all right.
They can stick their trains where the sun don't shine as far as I am concerned. Never use them unless I am going into London.

That is for Northampton to Euston (50 minute journey) for a year.
This years ticket was £4285.
Last night I had to drive down to MK because some prick decided it was not worth taking the train all the way back into Northampton. 30mins for me or Claire has to sit on a bus for another hour after a 14hr day in the city.

My season ticket is about 4K to London from Huntingdon. Far to expensive, if they made longer trains and cheaper fares, then people would use them more. There would be room on the roads then for people who have to use a car. It makes sense to have cheaper fares on trains. But now its all privatised its the shareholders who come first not the passengers.

Sorry. Trains are very expensive. You are already being subsidised.
Just because you like taking a train to work doesn't mean everybody else in the country should contribute.
I like driving, but pay a lot of money every year for the priviledge - where's my kickback from the taxman?
I can own and run a car for aprox £300 less a year than getting the train into manchester (that includes buying the car). Ok, i have to get into the lab very early to avoid heavy traffic but so what? Now i can do a full days work without getting wound up about getting on a crowded train.
Why should i get pay for an overpriced unreliable train service when i can get where i want under my own speed quicker, cheaper and more reliably?

Windsor - Wimbledon is significantly cheaper by any sort of car...
It'd be cheaper for me to drive from Earlsfield to Wimbledon (all of one stop on the train) in the not-exactly-fuel-efficient 328 if I could park around here for free...
