Interweb Dating, a cynical point.
Discussion
A thought just struck me, since there are 1000001 different internet dating sites, can all the people be real? Am I a cynic for thinking that a fair few sites falsely advertise loads of "customers" in the attempt of getting you (and your credit card) on board.
Just having a dabble to see what's on offer, it appears that SE Cornwall is crammed with poontang bow-legged and dripping, to meet ME!!!!! Wow! There is a god after all! but I must be a paid up member to say "Hi" Hmmmmmmmm.........
Am I a cynic or is this a cash raising exercise in a fair few cases with few goods to deliver....
If it is the case, I find it in extremely bad taste.

After a 3 month paid account on one site came to an end the very next day l got a mail from what looked like the best looking east european dial a bride in the universe. Of course to be able to read the mail you had to resubscribe. I didn't bother and 24 hours later the mail had entirely disappeared without trace.(and no you cant remote recall or delete this aint outlook!)
Complete waste of time to be honest, down to basics women get more than enough attention unless they are gormless ditch beasts without having to rely on meeting complete strangers over the internet. Caveat: except in extreme circumstances...hmm such as stranded on a desert island ...or welsh.
I believe its best use is for swinging and booty calls on the most part, where if you don't mess about you can work your way through several women a week. I have it on good authority that it does inevitably damage your soul (after the first 18 months or so
)
If anyone would like to suggest a site that isnt entirely made up of:
Young bints doing it for a laugh who never log in after registering.
Northern bovines with several kids looking for the next Mr Mug.
Bored rugby lads masquerading as women aided by inspired cut out selections from Kays catalogue.
People that write "in need of a hug" or something else indicating barely concealed mental anguish.
People up for casual sex whilst their boyfriend watches/beats you up/masturbates over your back <del as appropriate>
..then feel free to suggest it.

Get down the pub and meet some real people monkey boy

Why bother looking for "partner" just let it happen naturally.
Not everyone get to meet the their future partner. Sure there is someoone who alway end up to be lonely. That's way of the life.
I dont like dating sites, they use to lure poor people to pay for site's owner lifestyle.

No point in being alive if you don't live. Best to be able to say 'at least I tried'. You've got to kiss a lot of frogs before you get done for bestiality

Spot on!
And likewise if blokes are halfway decent then IMHO they shouldn't need to resort to trawling through pages of dating sites.

Pretty morbid view of things dude! Does that mean that if you havent found your perfect partner yet you should just sit down and give up?
Dating sites helped me settle in to Devon after moving down from Reading. I may not have found "the one" yet but I have a great social life, and I have a lot of fun.
I wouldn't be prepared to write off tinternet dating completely, but I do reckon that there is a lot of exploitation going on - if people are vulnerable, there's money to be made is the general rule of thumb.
Having said that you do have to wonder what proportion of them are telling the truth. Some will be but for others I think the 'translations' are:
attractive = plain
average = ugly
deep thinking = so affected you can't believe they're real
considerate = lentilist
bubbly = dim and vacuous, laugh like an angry magpie
honest = good liar
GSOH = recites Monty Python ad nauseum
likes long walks = ...and MG Midgets, beards, James Last, Morris dancing etc
cultured = haughty
down-to-earth = depressing
WLTM Similar = WLTM miracle
Likes animals = house full of cats and discarded knitting

Thanks for that.
I'll tell Julie, I'm sure she'll be glad to hear that we're such monsters that we shouldn't have been together for over three years.
Oh, and I met my ex-wife via the Personal columns, shame I wasted 10 years of my life with her, too...
Nobody says it has to last forever, but it needs to start somewhere.
TBH I don't think I would use a dating agency unless I was crushingly lonely and new to a town, and even then I'd probably just end up meeting people I didn't like.
IME the best way to meet people you get on with is to go to a club - be it sports, books, anything, just somewhere where people share a common interest - and you're more likely to meet people 'like' you who aren't desperate. I might even go so far as to say PH might be an example (I do wonder sometimes how PH might function as a part-time dating agency
)
I'd give speed dating a try though. It's based on sound enough principles - your first impressions of someone do tend to direct your future judgement of them and you do find out if they feel the same pretty quickly - although perhaps you're not given long enough. I'd try this before an agency, certainly.
I still think you're best off finding a common interest and working from there though.

I have a friend (no, really) who has recently divorced, and is looking through various sites for her next victim, I mean husband, sorry, man. Anyway, she thought she had found the one, and he had been a member of this site for 4 and a half years... I would have thought that would have warned her off, but no, it made her think he must have high standards and be really choosy.
I'm not after "the one", I was just curious about putting my biology through it's paces.
I've never had a one night stand, nor am I high milage, I remember the quote "On your deathbed, one thing you will never regret is having shagged too many birds in your twenties". Time to get some miles on the clock I reckon.

I know i couple of real Honeys in Copenhagen who interwebdate , they say its because they can not put up with the rude crude aproachs they get in bar.
Having seen my Danish mates in action i can confirm that the Vikings are alive and living in Copenhagen

Careful you don't compromise your principles in doing so though. You might feel great in retrospect but if there's a trail of broken hearts behind you then there's nothing to be pleased about. In some cases you might earn yourself a reputation you'd rather live without. I know a guy who used to take the 'miles on the clock' approach and now there are pubs he can't drink in and streets he can't walk down.
I see what you mean, Vroom about 'just letting it happen' but I'll be honest, it doesn't.
The biggest lie anyone can tell you, and the thing bound to make you miserable in the future is 'there'll be someone out there for you don't you worry'. This is a big fat lie because they forget that you do actually have to find this person. I haven't had loads of girlfriends and I've only ever had one one night stand which was enough to make me not want another one, but throughout my life, one thing's been constant. It comes from friends, from family, from strangers in bars:
"You're really good looking. I bet you have no trouble at all in attracting the women, I bet it must be easy for you. The right person's out there for you."
I have never heard so much cack in my life. Having been brought up being told I'd attract on looks and personality, I found my early forays into the whole dating scene a complete disaster - I just stood there assuming that the 'right' girls would be interested in me.
For a start, the human race is not tailor-made for each other. We don't roll off the production line in twos, destined to be compatible with each other. The human race is diverse, and therefore we are attracted to what is interesting.
And I found out pretty damn soon that I was as boring as a fence post and constantly upstaged by boorish Rugby types.
As a result, you really do have to advertise yourself. Don't arm yourself with chat-up lines and try and act like a placebo to whoever takes your fancy, stick by your convictions. Drive the car you want, wear the clothes you like that you look good in, have your hair like you want, listen to the music you like, go to the clubs that play that music, watch what programmes you like, read the books you like, do the sports you like. Stick by your convictions and don't be 'ashamed' by any aspects of your personality. Even if you're a weirdo, just be yourself, there will be similar weirdos who warm to you.
But whatever you do, don't act like some identikit person, blindly following fashion and 'popularity' in clothes, music, attitudes and so on. This herd mentality will ensure that you feel like a fake and although you will meet lots of people, you will have no real common ground between you at all.
Be yourself, and push it.
