Airport Lounges...

I received an information pack from a company called Priority Pass offering access to 450+ airport VIP/Business lounges across the world. For a fee of 259 quid a year, you can get into these lounges regardless of which class you're flying- which is useful for using laptops etc etc.
Just thinking, I don't always fly business so could be worth a look- but has anyone here tried this? Obviously I wouldn't be paying personally, but interested if anyone has experience of these people...

American Express include a Priority Pass card with
some of their packages - it has been handy on a
number of occasions, but not sure I'd pay £240
just for the service on it's own - I suppose it
depends on how often you think you'll be using it,
and the sort of places you would end up using it in.
In the UK, they tend to be ServiceAir lounges which
aren't particularly plush, but provide a quiet place
to wait with complementary drinks and snacks - the
real benefit comes in hot climates where the main
terminals don't tend to be air conditioned but
the lounges are. There are some limitations on
access at some lounges, and you'll get stung £20
a head for any guests you bring in with you...I
think the website has a full list of lounges around
the world.

The Priority Pass lounges are vastly inferior to the airlines' business lounges. Even without flying club class you should still pick up enough points for frequent flyer status to get access to the lounge. Just make sure you concentrate your flying onto one alliance.
I've used PP for a couple of years and found it well handy - all the major & most of the minor airports have a lounge available to PP holders, and the lounges are quite often the same as if you flew with an airline that had a small presence in the country you're in - I pay $99 p/a plus $20 for each visit as I don't fly as often as I used to, if you fly often the $249 package is worth it though. Even if only to separate you from the red-top reading lager-swilling masses...

You can get in anyway for around £30 a time. Are you flying enough to warrant that?
If you are in afrequent flyer scheme, you can normally get lounge acccess anyway.
I use the British Airways Exec club lounge and the American Airlines Admiral's club. Not a bad effort from either and is perfect when you fly with people or meet totty as you are checking in as you can bring in guests without charge.
I got all excited as I thought that this pass would let me in to ANY lounge in the world. Is there such a pass? I would pay for that.
