Received a letter through the post this morning, handwritten envelope with no postcode. Letter inside is a pyramid scheme where you send £10 to person on the top of the list, everyone moves up one spot, etc, etc.
Whilst I would like to turn £10 into £40,000 I cant believe that anyone would be daft enough to fall for these. And are'nt they illegal to participate in in the UK?

The law is bit confusing as to what's illegal. IIRC correctly, participation is not illegal but setting one up is.

It's worth remembering that companies like Avon, Betterware, Amway, etc are all based on a pyramid scheme. The difference here though is that they don't make outrageoulsy optomistic claims on potential earnings and there's a product involved that has value, use and crucially - demand.

All the other quick rich schemes are worthy of a wide berth.

Why is it that all those car stickers saying "earn extra income, get rich now, etc.... are stuck in the windows of woefully old, crap cars???

Ah business that relies on the manipulation of those directly below you.

Its what that mafia used to call 'running numbers'

Lovely scam, truly lovely.

It related to gambling but as gambling as illegal it was done through a chain of agents who would take the bet (based on the stock market movement) and kick up a percentage to the person they worked for all the way back to the big man.

Its a principal by which most mafia business is conducted...
