Britian looks forward not back

Looks like Britian has looked forward this time. 2009 will be very interesting.

Not quite sure what you mean by that - at present Labour has lost 35 seats, Conservatives gained 25 and Lib Dems gained 10. I think we are looking forward to maintaining a trend of Labour losing seats in 2009.

During the last three terms we have successfuly milked Britain until now there is no money left in the country to spend. As is clear from the combined vote total of Labour and the Lib Dems Britain is firmly social democratic at present.

Whether that stays the case when people see the economic costs of this and pay the higher taxes needed to fund it is another matter.

Thing is, being a profligate tax and spend party doesnt make labour socialist or democratic in itself. Labour does not fulfil any other requirement of a social democrat party. LibDem does but thats all on paper not practice.

I think I read that the boundaries are changing before the next election that should be worth a good few seats.

Add to that the economic downturn that is coming and disillusionment with an long standing government.

Hopefully the Tories will also present a younger, fresher more radical image as well

Do you recon that any bookies would take a bet? Probably too soon, but there is NO chance that Lab will get in again so its a pretty safe bet.... whatcha think?

So much for your "too close to call" theory of Wednesday ...

Sure it'll be more interesting next time round - it's got be with Labour holding such a small lead seats-wise – stands to reason.

I was toying with the idea of getting myself into Conservative politics, but I don't believe the country would be ready for such a thing. I would take a Prescott approach to Brown, Biff! take that you scots ! It would be like a one man revolution. Chairman Dann, it's got a ring to it.
