Ironing and washing costs?

Id like to find someone local who would be willing to pick up all my washing (clothes, bedding, towles etc) wash and iron them, and bring them back

I got a card in the post once from a local service, fees were £1 a shirt! Given that I wear 2 shirts a day, trousers, underwear, socks, bathroom towls, kitchen towles, sheets, pillow cases, duvet etc... im not willing to spend hundreds which is what it would add up to monthly! Its probably only 2 hours work a week, tops

Do any PHers take advantage of a wash/ironing service? Prices etc? Outside london where rates are reasonable for comparison.

Shirts to Morrisons/Safeway at £1 a go, the rest goes in the machine and doesn't get ironed

Shirts go to Johnsons - approx £1 each. Everything else goes to the launderette for a service wash, big bag washed, dried, aired & folded for about £7.

The cleaner does all our washing as part of her service, £40/day all in (and you get a sparkling clean house and the tea put on as well - good girl)

There's a place near us that does £10 for 20 items, collected and delivered. Bargain. Look in your local free rag as they seem to be springing up everywhere.

No... I have a wife who is obsessed with laundry up to the point of ironing. When the ironing pile reaches a height not dissimilar to that of Everest, we send it off to 'Ironing Solutions' !

We have a local student girl that comes round to our place every fortnight and spends 4 hours, washing, ironing, cleaning the kitchens and bathrooms and the lounge areas.

That costs us £28 each time which isn't so bad I guess.....if that helps you guess a cost.....

Before I met partner I was luck enough to have a number of exs who would do mine and when they weren’t about I had a great mate who actually said she enjoyed ironing (when she went home though I always ended up with creased bed sheet though)

The g/f arrived and insisted she did it all. Problem is if we ever split up I’m left without any nearby laundrettes and miles away from friend

Tip get a little lady in best bet is to find a single mum on benefits who wants to make a few quid on the side.

A little ad in a corner shop window shoud do the trick.

Is that the going rate for washing/ironing someone's shirt? Tempting. However, I think I'd better let my bloke carry on doing his own, I'm expensive enough as it is and I'd hate to cost him even more!
