Property in Dubai?

I have a good mate who is looking into buying an apartment out there. Has anyone got any experience of buying in Dubai or recommend any good agents, etc to contact? He is maybe thinking of buying a place from plan in one of the myriad of new developments on the go.

The company I work for is based in Dubai mate. They are quite heavily into property development (amongst other things!) and use EMAAR quite a bit - www.emaar.com/

If your mate is looking at investing from plan these guys are pretty good.
