So iv'e just got in, just!
Ridden all the way from elephant and castle to catford on my pushbike.
Anyway i am going along the cycle path, it's dark ( yes i have 4 lights on the front, big ones ) , there is a big roadsign on the path...the high ones with six foot gap inbetween the bollards.
I am doing 15-20mph, suddenly i see it!, some fuc**r has tied sizel or something thick between the gap near head hight ffS, The bollards are so wide i ride through them.
Anyway i can't stop, it's right there!....It goes tight around my arms and busts. Only because i am going so fast that my forward momentum carries me through
I now have a bruise in the middle of each bicep. That could have fekin garroted me!. This is serious stuff. Someone deliberately set up a bloody trip wire of thich size type string.
If i was on a bmx or a child or whatever!, I am flabbergasted and angry.
just reported it to the police although they can't realy do much.

Still, it didn't garrot me and all i have is two sore arms with bruises. So i guess i am lucky.

look on the bright side it could have killed you.Some arsehole did that on the riverside cycle path in Bedford. As I approached it looked like some of the plants growing at the side of the path had bent over across the track, so I kept going expecting to brush them aside. Only when it was too late did I see that it was really polypropylene rope tied between two posts across the track. Fortunately it caught the frame rather than me, and did no damage. I untied the rope and took it home with me, as a useful bit of rope.

The culprit should be hung by the balls from that road sign......
However, having said that, isn't 15mph a little excessive in the circumstances.....?
If you come across a little old lady squatting for a pee, your bike would be permanently parked therein.....
and she wouldn't fit in the ambulance, either........

Havent you got a bruise on each of your busts as well??
Joking aside, serious stuff this. I remember when I was a kid an old chap on a moped was just about beheaded when someone tied fishing line across the road between two lampposts at around neck height.
I believe the plan is not to kill you, but to force you to the ground so that they can jump out of the bushes, relieve you of that cumbersome wallet and mobile phone ensemble, before kicking your stunned torso into the canal and making good their getaway, probably on your bike, if it is a good one.

Excrement & Arsehole really is the pits, and on the odd occasion I have an evening's work in Catford I don't enjoy iy one little bit.

Unfortunately I can top that by a huge margin, and one that I am ashamed to admit happened in Scotland.
In the notorious Gorbals in Glasgow a few years ago, an ambitious plan was put forward to completely rejuvenate the whole area.
Included in this was a beautiful sports centre and swimming pool complete with long winding flume for the children's enjoyment for years to come.
There was enormous pomp and ceremony at the opening, but during the first week someone got access to the flume between sessions and glued razor blades with the edges upright onto the water slides inside the flume.
The first few children that came down at the start of the session were scarred for life, and one can only imagine the terror they suffered as they hit the water with blood pumping from their wounds.
I am a great believer in natural justice, and had I caught these filth and been responsible for their sentencing, I would not have hesitated to use the Arab method of removing their hands at the wrist, without an anaesthetic.
They would then have to suffer the ignominy of having someone shave them, preferably with an open razor every morning, and remember the flume 'til the day they died.

Apparently it's been copied elsewhere too - I'm always a bit nervous in the things now. In fact I think the Dundee Leisure Centre was tarted up around the same time and there were a few concerns.
