Some say prevention, not just punishment is needed. Perhaps; however, theses animals seem to only respond to consequences. By making it a federal offense, the death penalty comes into play.

Good that the 'kids' (16-17yr olds) can get punished now too - been playing the 'under age' card for far too long now

I agree, that is an emotional issue for obvious reasons; however, some "kids" are beyond-hope-evildoers of the worst kind. Many adult gangsters use the kids for crimes knowing they will get the "kid" treatment if caught....a recruitment tool.

They need to do the same thing here-I don't see why a 15 year old should be treated anymore leniently than an 18 year old.

Although it's my favourite film, you see the sort of induction and grooming these kids get in Goodfellas - seeing a court case and getting into trouble as a monumentally good thing and so on. Great film, sad reality.
