Places to stay near Bakewell/Buxton

Mrs. Liszt and my self have the opportunity of getting away for the weekend at the beginning of June with out the little Liszts and fancy going to the Peak district for a bit of walking and sight seeing.

Looking for a nice country oub with rooms or a small hotel.

Any recommendations?

I used to know a young lady who ran the Grouse and Claret in Rowsley (North of Matlock), but this was a good few years ago and I believe its changed hands since then. Worth a peek tho, as despite being a bit east of where you mentioned, its still a nice part of the world. Cat and Fiddle proximity must surely mean you'll get more suggestions than mine...

(usual caveats apply - please dont blame me if its now a bit of a karzi..!)

There's the Izaak Walton right next to Thorpe cloud and Dovedale. The BDC has long weekends there.

One of my favourite hooning areas!

There's a good pub in Tideswell (excellent food) but I'm not sure it does accommodation. Even so, find an excuse to take a left from the A6 after Chapel-en-le-Frith, follow the Castleton road towards Eyam but take a right through Tideswell back to the A6 - you hit roads worthy of a rally stage!

I can recommend Ashford in the water

Great pub called the Ashford arms, and a B&B that I can't remember the name of. Ask in the pub, that's what we did.
