After working for the same company for over 4 years, I have a feeling things are changing. Nothing concrete, but I just know im gonna get shafted and pushed into doing something I dont want to do, and is technically outside the terms of my employment.
In a Nutshell, I am a Solutions Specialist, working remotely from an Office. Having agreed to spend the last month on a customers site to facillitate a project handover, with the promise that a dedicated onsite resource will be employed to take over, I have a nasty feeling to cut corners and save the money, they are going to insist I do it Perminantly.
There are Pro's and Cons for me agreeing. The biggest plus is its virtually half the travelling distance than the daily office trip, however, being onsite I am remote to all my collegues, and the people I have enjoyed working with. I am stuck with one customer with limited room to further my experience or knoweldge
Any Advice ? My instinct is to tell work to shove the job inless they make it worth my while. They need me more than I need them at present. Should I use this as an opportunity to ask for more money ?

There'a a difference between being assertive (with a cause) and being confrontational. I would recommend a calm discussion with your line manager about your current job responsibilities/objectives, the circumstances you see building up and seek guidance from that person about how the future looks from their side. If career development is important to you then emphasise this and ask how the company will play their part alongside the real commitment that you are presumably making to build business value - don't play the 'more money' card too early in this negotiation.
However if career development is important to you and don't see any long term future within your present company, make sure that you spend your time finding a position with a business that does have these prospets - but don't stumble into a confrontation that cuts the umbilical before you have lined up the next step out of your present company.

Contract states "Remote Support", and only travel to site as a last resort. Does not mention any onsite (this last month was done as a favour). Im not in any rush to leave the company (I do bugger all most days anyway) but I object to being "Told" I "Will" be onsite.
Time to find the Contract papers and have a chat to my boss. (Our HR Director is a W4nk3r .. if I go before him, I will probably drag him outside and give him a good kicking) and then resign
