Gonna upgrade my phone today.

Who's got what and which are the best?

I'm thinking of a Nokia 6230.

I've said it once, I'll say it again: Samsung D500. It's almost certainly the best allrounder available for a free upgrade.

My 6230i has arrived at home today as a free upgrade. Same as 6230 but with better screen, camera, memory, connectivity, etc.

Shhhh....keep quiet and he'll go away....

I've just got a RAZR V3 - great phone nice and slim, excellent reception (I used to use a Sony Ericsson )

The menus are a little tricky at times, and I'm finding the battery life isn't brilliant, but it works very nicely, and I can use it at home, where there is a serious black hole for signal reception.

I had a choice between the 6230 and the K700i - foolishly I went for the K700i as my last three phones had been nokias (felt like a change). Though the K700 is an ok phone its operating system is a little slow- like running XP on a Pentium II.
That goood enough for you.......

Nokia 8850. It's worked since 1998 and is really good at being a mobile phone

On a related subject - which network?

3 are mighty cheap, but I've heard worrying stories about coverage (still??!) and customer service..?

No complaints about Voda after being with them for 9 years. Pretty much faultless service worldwide & a quick call to them ensures that they don't lock your phone after running up bills of £200+ from foreign countries (this often happens to colleagues on a network which is similar to the Dutch national colour)

Well we are happy with 3. We are running 4 phones and no problem for us and that ranges from Ullapool in Scotland, the Lakes and Shropshire, not exactly the big cities are they! If there is no cover by 3 it reverts to 02 btw.

I'm a convert to the Moto A1000. Lovely little PDA/phone and with integral aGPS. look here and select handset. Lots of support from online forums with apps and advice too.

Yes, I'd heard they revert to O2, but had also heard that it was far from seamless, and having one's call cut-off mid-gas was a frequent occurrence. As I'm in London that would be pretty inexcusable.

Good to hear some positive experiences have been had with 3 as I'd like to believe they were good value, rather than just 'what do you expect for nothing' cheap. Have you tried 'roaming' Europe with them?

I think that the 3 experience is a good deal better with the new handsets. No experience this year on the continent but USA was fine last week.

I've got one too. Very good phone, although not one for the diehard nokia fanatics out there.

After a good look round and through these suggestions/links, I think I'm gonna go for the new Nokia 6230i.

Thanks for the advice folks!
