Washing Machine in cellar

We are (hopefully) about to move house.
The new pad has a semi-dug-out cellar. One of my longer-term plans is to fully dig out the cellar, and put the washing machine down there, along with lots of storage space and a workshop. (As an aside, has anyone any experience of digging out a cellar, and what to finish the floor and walls off with?)
However, If we dig out the cellar, it will be below the level of the water waste pipes already in the house. If we wanted to put a washing machine and small sink down there, how do you do the waste water plumbing from these? The water inlet side is easy - just some 15mm copper pipe - but how do you make the waste flow uphill?
I am guessing you could build some kind of sump for the sink/washing machine to drain into, and put a self-priming electric lift pump in it to take the water up one story, but this sounds very cumbersome. Is there any better way of doing it, or if not, is there a ready-made device which incorporates the sump and the lift pump all in one?
This is, at this stage, hypothetical, as I expect it will be a while before we start to do the work on the cellar, but having an idea of what will eventually go down there will be helpful when laying it out.

just dont dig out your cellar without checking with a structural engineer first as there is a good chance your house will fall down before you finish (it has happened)
Thanks - we have. Well, I specifically instructed our surveyor to inspect it, as it didn't look structural to me but I wanted to be 100% sure. He told me that it could be dug out as the rest of the property was well enough supported.
