I've always had an interest in Liberators. During the war one crashed near the village where I grew up, whilst on Leigh Light trials out of Boscombe Down. I scavenged quite a few interesting bits and bobs from the crash site - parts of radio set and such, a badly corroded cylinder head. Knowing that the pilot did not to survive, and his body never found, made the whole expedition rather scary and I always felt a bit guilty about it.
One day I found my collection of Liberator bits had been thrown away.
